Nothing stays secret on the web for long
Ive been busily setting up my on blog on my website using WordPress, and importing posts from this blog using the RSS feed.

This morning i checked my emails and i had two emails from PHP Classes telling me that they had a trackback ping from my blog.
I’ve just looked in the 404 error database, and I’ve seen three different user-agent strings from bots that crawl blogs.
ping.blo.g
Blogslive (info@blogslive.com)s/2.0
Yahoo-Blogs/v3.9 (compatible; Mozilla 4.0; MSIE 5.5; http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/crawling/crawling-02.html )

Here’s the one from PHP Classes: httpclient (http://www.phpclasses.org/httpclient $Revision: 1.63 $)

I’ll make this “official” when I have the new site style up and running

Bye for now…

Shameless Plug

This is a shameless plug for two other websites that I have running under the roganty.co.uk domain.

The first is devl.roganty.co.uk and is my development website where I place my scripts and programs for download.

The second is linux.roganty.co.uk Linux Links and I just launched it today. It is where I will place links for the Linux OS, and I will place my own thoughts and experiences of using Linux.

New site style

This is just a quick post to say that there is a new style available on my website.
It is called Boxes (click to view style) and uses the same style that i have used on other sites and projects

Enjoy
🙂

Edit:
This option is no longer available!

Style Sheet Switcher

I have implemented a style sheet switcher called UDASSS into my website
What this little gem does is set a cookie so that when the style sheet is changed all of the other pages use the same style sheet.

The change only happens when the alternate style is chosen from the Change Style page

On one of the alternate styles, there is a couple of areas that don’t have styles, but I am working on them, and will update the style sheets when I have finished.

Edit:
This feature is no longer available!

Muliple Style Sheets

If you are reading this on my homepage using Firefox, well done!
Go to the “View” menu then select “Page Styles”, you can then choose a style for my site.
Its not yet permanent, as it resets to default every time you move to a new page.

If your reading my blog and you thought WTF!? Then calm down, just go to my website at www.roganty.co.uk and everything will be explained.
I am using RSSread on my homepage and the previous three posts from my/this blog is displayed on the homepage

RSSread released!

My latest pet project, RSSread, has been released, though it is still being worked on.

RSSread has been incorporated into my homepage.
So this post and any new ones will also be shown on my homepage.

All of this has been done by reading the XML file which is produced by my blog, this means that any RSS feeds can be read by my script, as long as they are XML files.
The script can be configured in a number of different ways which can be found on the example page
It is actually only the example page which is still being worked on, but because this file is being included in the zip file, I have not yet properly released RSSread.

I will post more details in a few days time when I have finished the example page

Spam up!

No, I’m not talking about the advert for the processed meat.
But I am talking about those faceless-f**kers who, not only choke the internet full of emails advertising bulls**t, but also spam, in their dozens, the same c**p on guestbooks.

Yes, my guest book is being spammed. AGAIN!

I don’t know whether to be glad, or angry!
At least it give me an incentive to start development on my anti-guestbook (wow! what a good name!) and i will have plenty of test material 😉

In the mean time, i have put up some temporary barriers.
But if it continues at the rate at which it has, 22 posts on the 12 and 53 today
I will have to disable my guest book

Disabled Comments

Those spam bots are at it again!
This time they are spamming the Ajax post I posted back in November, so I have had to disable comments for my blog, as currently there is no option to disable comments on a post-by-post basis.

This is one feature I would (now!) like to see implemented *hint*hint* 😉
Plus better support for the smilies!

Finally :D

Finally, after a week, my new domain is activated, now all that I need to do is to start copying the old website over to the new domain.

This new domain and hosting is a positive step forward for me, as it means that my site is taken away from the ad ridden beast that is tripod and moved to hosting on – well – tripod!

This should mean that the copying of the website over is easy, I just need to find “webcopier”

woohoo 😀

New Domain

I have finally taken the plunge!
I have ordered a domain name and webhosting from lycos at a cost of £5 a month which is about £70 a year including VAT

I will be able to manage my account within the next 24-48 hours, and the domain registration checks take between 1-5 days.

The domain name that I am using is roganty.co.uk (how’d you guess 😉 )

See ya
